$890 Million Boost: World Bank Supercharges India’s Solar Mission
The World Bank Group has officially approved a massive $890 million financing package to accelerate India’s residential rooftop solar adoption. This significant global backing is set to rapidly supercharge the nation's clean energy goals.
This initiative aims to power 10 million households under the government's flagship rooftop solar program. Beyond environmental impacts, the project is a massive economic driver, projected to create approximately 1.7 million new jobs across manufacturing, installation, and maintenance services.
For Indian households, the program removes crucial financial barriers. Eligible families receive financial subsidies covering up to 60% of the solar system's cost, allowing them to generate up to 300 units of free electricity monthly.
Here is how the subsidy breakdown looks:
🏠 Up to 1 kW = ₹30,000
🏡 Up to 2 kW = ₹60,000
🏘️ 3 kW+ = ₹78,000
You can apply for the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and claim your subsidy directly through the official national portal.
